A second-half goal from Hearts of Oak striker, Kwame Kizito was enough to power La Community to victory over Tema in the finals of the 2017 McDan Unity Cup on Sunday.
The lanky forward who has been linked to several clubs outside the country grabbed the winner to ensure that La’s dream of hosting and winning the competition became a reality.
The game which was witnessed by Former President J. J Rawlings, La Manstse Nii Kpobi Tetteh, Former Black Stars skipper Stephen Appiah and other distinguished personalities lived up to the pre-match billing as both teams displayed awe-inspiring soccer that will leave lasting memories on the minds of the massive crowd that converged at the La Community Park on Sunday.
La paraded a star-studded team led by Liberty Professionals skipper, Samuel Sarfo, Kotoko winger Ollenu Ashitey, Inter Allies’ Samuel Bekoe and Hearts of Oak midfielder Samudeen Ibrahim.
Tema, however, resisted the challenge and held their own until that moment of magic by Kwame Kizito.
The tournament which was played by the eight Ga states is aimed at fostering unity and peaceful coexistence among the states and also churn out talents for the various national teams.
La were given 2000 dollars and a giant trophy as winners whereas Tema got a cash prize of 1000 dollars for placing second.
There were also prize packages for the tournament's best player, best goalkeeper, best defender and other individual awards
