Kwadwo Asamoah: ‘No shaky’ about World Cup

Playmaker Kwadwo Asamoah wants Black Stars fans to rest over fears of 2014 FIFA World cup qualification.

The national team are eyeing a third straight appearance at the Mundial after previously having never been there at all, but face a stern challenge from African champions Zambia who have inflicted a defeat to the Black Stars already in Africa qualifying group D.

But nimble-footed Asamoah who started all of Ghana’s games at the last World Cup, believes the Black Stars will come out tops of the section despite losing 0-1 to the Chipolopolo recently.

He told 90 MINUTES exclusively over the weekend: “Of course we lost in Zambia but this is football and anytime things can go wrong. Ghanaians should not be afraid, we’ve only played two matches and there are four games still to come so we will definitely work harder to qualify.

“We know what is best for us. We played in the World Cup 2010 and it is one of the most important things that can happen to a footballer. I learnt a lot of things as a young player, the experience was great and I will be excited to do it all over again.”

The Juventus bound star also passes a dose of confidence in helmsman Kwasi Appiah:

“Of course he can do the job, he has the experience as a player and we respect him as a coach because he has been with us for a long time.

“It’s not that he’s a Ghanaian or he is white. We know him and we are happy with him.”
