Ghana defender, Samuel Osei Kuffour has spiked reports that he has decided to call on time on his career.
Media reports on Tuesday stated that the defender has decided to retire from the game.
However, the reports gathered some credence today when the local media reported that Kuffour at the age of 32 had finally hanged his boots after attempts to find a club run into difficulties this summer.
But Kuffour, who shot to fame during his time with Bayern Munich, says there is truth in the reports.
“I have not spoken to anyone about retiring,” the experienced Ghana international said to kickoffghana.com.
“I am disappointed with the story that I have retired when no one has spoken to me.”
Kuffour has been without a club after Dutch side, Ajax released him at the end of the season. Despite being linked with clubs in Russia and England, the player says he is taking his time to make a choice.
“I still have a lot of football left in me but I am not in a rush,” he says.
“I want to take my time, look around for the best offer but it is completely false that I have quit football.
“Having played at the highest level all these years I deserve a rest. I have received a lot of calls since the story broke and deep down I am disappointed because even my wife does not know that I have retired.”
