With the closure of the player registration window for the opening of the 2011/12 season by the Premier League Board (PLB) last Friday, footyghana.com can reveal Asante Kotoko successfully registered 23 new players out of fifty-six (56), six more than the mandatory fifty required for a combination of the senior team and U-20 players.
Kotoko is however required to ratify their registration by dropping the extra 6 players.
The 23 new faces Kotoko has registered is a mix of players registered for the glo Premier League and the U-20 league. Notable among them is striker Ahmed Toure’s 17-year-old brother Ishmael Toure, who plays in the midfield position, Amos Frimpong who joined from B.A Stars and striker Kofi Nti Boakye whose previous club is UAE side, Al kaleej FC.
The 23 newly acquired and registered players of Asante Kotoko are as follows:
Baba Abdul Rahman, Ben Acheampong, Amos Frimpong, Richard Yeboah, Kofi Nti Boakye, Felix Annan, Rafiq Mohammed, Dainel Boating, Seidu Muntawakilu, Sakho Iddrisa, Akomaning Eric, Emmanuel Appiah Kubi, Michael Mensah, Ishmael Toure, Yahya Mohammed, Osei Kofi, Stephen Asamoah, Michael Anaba, Mumuni Mustapha, Dennis Derry, Rockson Abdallah, Charles Agyei Mensah, Augustine Okrah.
Meanwhile the duo of defender Louis Quainoo and midfielder Jordan Opoku who has returned from a four-month loan deal with Albanian side Dinamo Tirana could not be registered due to contractual disagreements.
