Kumasi, March 3, GNA - A Management member of Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Sarfo Gyamfi, has given the assurance that the Club's exit from this year's CAF Champions League would not dampen their spirit. "Management and the playing body are unruffled and remain focused on the goal of winning the Glo Premier League despite the recent loss. Speaking to the GNA Sports in Kumasi, the former player of the Club appealed to the teaming supporters to rally behind the team physically and spiritually, adding that they should not be down hearted and stop giving their support to the team but to help raise the morale of the players.
Kotoko, who were Ghana's sole representative in this year's Champions League crushed
out last Sunday to a 2-4 penalties defeat to their Senegalese counterparts, ASC Linguere,
at the Ohene Djan Stadium in Accra. The Porcupine Warriors lost on 4-6 aggregate, having lost 0-2 goals in the first leg
before they beat the Senegalese by the same goal margin in the return match in Accra. Sarfo Gyamfi described Kotoko's exit from the competition as one of the surprises in
association football since the players played very well but unfortunately squandered many
chances which they could have easily utilized. He said Management had psyched up the players to put behind them the defeat and
concentrate on wining the remaining Premier League matches. Sarfo Gyamfi also called on the supporters to stop the blame game, something, he said
could distract the team's focus. Kotoko currently lies 8th on the league table with 27 points but has an outstanding
match against New Edubiase United at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, Kumasi this
Wednesday. 03 March 10
