Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah has calmed fears of insecurity in Sudan as Asante Kotoko travel to engage Al Hila in the opening group fixture of the Caf Confederation Cup.

The Ghanaian giants have been drawn together with the North Africans in Group C, which is completed by Zambian duo Zesco United and Nkana FC.

As the Porcupine Warriors gear up to face Al Hilal in the opening game of the group, several pundits and supporters of the club have expressed their concerns about security function in the North African country.

But Kwesi Appiah, who coached Al Hilal for almost three years before returning for a second stint with the Black Stars, says there is nothing to fear and called on Ghanaian to rally behind the club in their bid to win the competition.

“The insecurity is at South Sudan not North Sudan where Kotoko is traveling to play so there is no problem,” Appiah states on Oyerepa FM.

“The tension is not in that country but the northern part so the team should be courageous and have a winning mentality.”

“I will urge all Ghanaians to support Kotoko as they go because it is now a national affair.”
