Kotoko to sign Osei Pele in shock move

Kumasi Asante Kotoko are set to offer a lifeline to Hearts
of Oak reject, Edwin ‘Osei’ Pele, 90 MINUTES understands talks have been almost
finalized for the free agent to join the reigning league champions.
The Kumasi-born Osei Pele was hailed as the next Tony Yeboah
after beginning his career with a bang, slamming in the goals as an 18 year old
to power Hearts to a pre-season Top 4 title barely two years ago.
But the promise soon waded and he became unwanted at the
Accra club and was frozen out of playing time for the first half of last season
until he went on loan to Aduana in the second round.
The player and Hearts finally agreed to cancel his contract
and forego a GH¢12,000 cash to walk as a free agent.
But after monetary disagreements stalled purported moves to
both Ashgold and RTU, it appears Kotoko fans will finally get their wish after
management
agreed to gamble on the 20 year old goal poacher.
Despite an unbeaten start to the defence of the league
title, Kotoko have struggled for goals, a situation that has been blamed for
their unconvincing position in the league table.
And according to reliable sources to the club, the technical
team have identified the former Kessben FC hitman as the man to compliment new
captain, Kwame Obeng Darko as they push to retain the Glo Ghana Premier League
as well invasion of the African Champions’ League next term. Credit:
