Kotoko to face Medeama in FA Cup final

Asante Kotoko will face Premier League contenders Medeama in the MTN FA Cup final after both sides won their semi-final ties on Sunday.
The Porcupine Warriors beat Amidaus Professionals 3-1 at the Accra Sports Stadium to pick up a final berth whiles the Mauves and Yellows edged out the Phobians 1-2 to set up a final on June 15.
Ivorian-import Robin Gnagne scored the first goal at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium from the spot in the 16th minute. However, goalkeeper Godfred Rockson equalised also from the spot after the interval.
Things went bad for the Phobians when Moro Sulley fouled a player and Rockson stepped up once again to shoot the Mauves and Yellows in the lead to make it 2-1 against Hearts of Oak.
Hearts of Oak’s hopes of winning silverware this season have been dashed since the domestic top flight is out of their reach this term.
In Accra, it was in-form Yahaya Mohamed, who opened the score sheet in the 17th minute with a powerful shot to beat goalkeeper Isaac Amoako in Accra. The Amidaus captain was set up after his side beat an offside trap to give them the advantage. In a one-on-one situation, the local Black Stars midfielder latched on the ball vigorously with his side foot to put them in the lead.
It took Ransford Osei to restore parity for the Porcupine Warriors. Amidaus Professionals goalkeeper Eric Antwi had punched the ball from his post right in the 18-yard box after a free kick, but the cleared ball landed in front of the Under-20 World Cup winner, who capitalised on the situation in the 25th minute to equalise for the defending Ghana Premier League champions.
Kofi Nti Boakye stretched his goal tally this season to nine when he used his left knee to jerk the ball into an empty post in the 32nd minute to put the Porcupine Warriors in the lead.
Amidaus returned the more determined side, but were not clinical with their finishing. Osei bagged a double to make it three for Kotoko in stoppage time. He chested the ball brilliantly in the danger zone and fired ruthlessly into Antwi’s post to move them into the final.
Kotoko will now face Medeama in the FA Cup final on June 15.
