Kotoko is on course in winning the league - Maxwell Konadu

Asante Kotoko coach, Maxwell Konadu, believes that the 2019/20 Ghana Premier League is still within their reach as they trail the league leaders Ashantigold SC by three points.

Kotoko plays Bechem United at their newly adopted home venue, Accra Sports Stadium on the back of two successive defeats to Aduana Stars on matchday 11 and Asokwa Deportivo in the round of 64 in the MTN FA Cup.

This means that Kotoko can only go to Africa by winning the ongoing league competition and their recent poor form of scoring goals has cast some doubt among the porcupine fans as they fear they may not play in Africa for the first time in three successive years.

Speaking ahead of Friday's encounter with Bechem United, Konadu refused to accept the notion that winning the league per their current standing will be difficult as he thinks the middle table teams are also in a position to win the league considering the points gap between the top placed teams and the middle table teams.

"We are on course in winning the league because the points difference between us and our opponents is not something that you can conclude that someone has won the league or a team will be going on relegation,"said Maxwell Konadu on the Kumasi based Nhyira FM.

"A middle league table team can even come and win the league so how can you write Kotoko who are 5th on the league table from not winning the league,“ Maxwell Konadu opined.
