Kotoko introduces Coach Fabian to large army of supporters

Kumasi, Sept. 30, GNA - The Management of Kumasi Asante Kotoko Sporting Club on Tuesday officially introduced Paa Kwesi Fabian as the Club's newly signed coach to a huge crowd of enthusiastic supporters at a ceremony at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi.

Fabian, the 2008/2009 top Coach of the country's Premier League struck a three year-deal with the Porcupine Warriors in Kumasi.

Until his appointment, coach Fabian was in charge of Kpando Heart of Lions, where his tactical prowess became manifest, turning the Volta Region-based Club into one of the finest where he qualified them for the CAF Confederations Cup and winning of the ultimate in the just ended MTN GHALCA Top Four tournament.

Madam Helena Cobbina, a Management Member said the choice of Coach Fabian was influenced by his competence, expertise and fair knowledge of Kotoko, one of the most celebrated Clubs in Africa. "Coach Fabian once served on the technical bench of the Club and we believe that having worked with Kotoko previously, he is better positioned to turn things around and restore the Club to its glorious and awesome past."

Madam Cobbina said Fabian's immediate assignment is to guide Kotoko to win the 2009/2010 Premier League and the CAF Championship trophy but "In the long term, the expectation is that he would build a formidable academy to feed the senior team".

Mr Benjamin Nti, another Management Member pleaded with the over-zealous fans to exercise patience, restraint and understanding and to rally solidly behind the new technical head to enable him to succeed. "I entreat the supporters to spare the coach any unnecessary pressure that could impact negatively on his desire to take Kotoko to greater heights".

Coach Fabian thanked the Management for the confidence reposed in him and pledged he would not disappoint the Club and its large army of supporters.

He said that he would soon name his assistant and drew attention to the need to secure the services of experienced players to man especially the defence of the team for the difficult assignments ahead. 30 Sept. 09
