Kotoko beat Power

Kumasi Asante Kotoko on Wednesday brought back the smiles of their teeming supporters when they beat Power F/C 2-1 in their Onetouch Premier League match played at the Cape Coast Robert Mensah stadium. After a goalless first half in which both teams miss scoring chances, it was Kotoko who resumed the second half in whirl-wind fashion and scored the opener in the 53rd minute through midfielder, John Cudjoe. Cudjoe after collecting a pass from Stephen Oduro planted the ball into the blind side of goalkeeper Alfred Mills in posts for Power. Power F/C hit back strongly and following a combination initiated by Francis Kowfie and Amui Quaye they paved the way for Allan Sawyer to level up the scores in the 72nd minute.

The game from then on became a balanced affair and when all things was pointing to a drawn game, outside right Nana Arhin Duah exploited a defensive blunder to score the match winner.

Alhaji Karim Grusah's King Faisal on Wednesday beat Tema Youth, Ghana's sole representative of this year's Confederation Cup 2-1 at the Sunyani Coronation Park in the 20th Week of the Onetouch Mid-Week Premier league.

Striker Edward Owusu Peprah scored the first goal for Faisal in the 22nd minute after he latched on an orchestrated pass from Francis Ofori to beat goalkeeper Yusif Mensah in posts for Tema Youth. Both clubs displayed a tactical close marking but failed to utilize the chances that came their way.

Barely after Referee Seidu Bomison of Wa added two minutes of injury time to end the first half, Faisal's goalkeeper Suraj Mohammed mistakenly punched a shot on the way of Francis Obeng of Tema Youth who capitalized on it to kick the ball against a defenders hand inside the penalty box. Referee Bomison who was around the spot did not hesitate to award a penalty for Tema Youth which Gado Mohammed scored for the much needed equalizer.

On the 65th minute, Faisal's also took advantage of a defensive mix up to earn a penalty through an infringement which Owusu Agyemang scored to ensure Faisal carry the day. Faisal's Kwaku Essien was adjudged the best player.
