Kotoko Chairman preaches unity in club

*Dr. Kofi Kodua Sarpong, Executive Chairman of Asante Kotoko has called on supporters of the club to unite behind his administration and the playing body in the bid to relaunch the club to its rightful place at the pinnacle of Ghana football. *

Dr. Sarpong is boss of the current administration of the club which are continuously receiving praises for their achievements amid for leading a revival in the 2010/11 Glo Ghana Premier League season. It is a season that started very badly with the record Ghanaian league winners suffering a 7-match losing streak along the way.

But the Executive Chairman reckons that the recent gains which has seen the club climb to 3rd on the league ladder after annihilating arch enemies Hearts of Oak in Accra, can only be sustained with a united front.

“The only thing that ensures the sustenance of the club’s goodwill is unity. Let’s eschew the usual habit of backbiting, greediness and the pull-him-down attitude,” Mr. Sarpong told supporters at the recent National Circles Council Delegates Congress in Sunyani.

In another development, Dr. Sarpong also revealed that Kotoko have reached an agreement with American sportswear manufacturers ‘Area’ to kit the club beginning next season. ‘Area’ will as part of the deal, supply the club with executive suits for players’ on Match Days, jerseys, training kits, bibs, tracksuits, boots and replica jerseys for fans.

All Sports is also reliably informed that Kotoko chiefs were in the UK last week to secure multiple deals in the interest of the club, among them talks with English Premiership side Sunderland FC to visit Ghana as guests of Kotoko in the summer.
