Konadu joins Red Bull Academy

Former Ghana International and Kumasi Asante Kotoko prolific striker Maxwell Konadu has joined Red Bull Academy as youth coach .Konadu?s appointment came after he had been recommended by the Technical Director Han Peter Schaller.
According to a release signed by General Manager Sanzio Bahner, Konadu will assist German born Daniel Heidermann at the under seventeen category.
The former WA All Stars Manager said he was not wooed to the Academy because of monetary gains but was much impressed by the facilities at the Academy and professional approach to the game.

??It is the aim of every coach to have the right environment to work in and this was the side that attracted me to come here.?As a coach who wants to make it big, I think the challenges here and the platform offers a good ground for me to achieve my aim and objective as a former star.I heard a lot about the Academy and the day set foot there, I couldn?t believe what I saw. Immediately, my mind was made up and I said to myself , this place is the right place for me as a football coach?? Konadu said.

The former Upper West Heroes player blossom to stardom after joining the porcupine warriors Kumasi Asante Kotoko in the nineties during the days of Shamo Quaye, Ablade Kumah,Yaw Preko,Oli Rahman,Joe Debrah, Stanley Aborah ,Thomas Boakye just to mention but a few. Maxwell Konadu was a member of the Olympic squad that won bronze at the 1992 Barcelona Games. Later, he went to Portugal where he featured for Leira.

Aside Maxwell, the technical team of the Academy has two former players of Accra Hearts Of Oak . Emmanuel Tettevi who is in charge of the goalkeepers and Ben Adjei coach of the U.13 team
