Berekum Chelsea striker Kofi Owusu has revealed his quest for recognition in the Champions League competition, occasioned his decision to sign a one-year loan deal with league champions, Ashantigold.
The Blues made a sensational U-turn after revealing they were not willing to sell their priced asset to a local club; and agreed on a season-long loan deal with the miners for their goal-poacher.
But Owusu insisted Ashantigold’s participation in next year’s CAF Champions League attracted him to the club.
“I want to play in the CAF Champions League, that’s why I signed the loan deal with Ashantigold,” he said.
“I will play for them next season. The Champions League is a great platform for me to sell myself to clubs abroad.”
Meanwhile, Owusu, who was not available for the the Local Black Stars' game against Ivory Coast due to injury, has passed the fitness test for the second leg.
