Laryea Kingston and Bernard Don Bortey are the latest players to have opted to join the Sir Cecil Jones Attuquayefio Charity match fixed for the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday, June 29, at 5:00pm.
Both players who were once members of the Black Stars, confirmed their participation to the organisers and expressed their willingness to support the event which is also aimed at raising funds for the renowned coach, and also the the Ear, Nose and Throat Unit of the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, where he is currently receiving treatment.
Kinsgton, a key member of the Black Stars that secured Ghana’s first ever qualification to the FIFA World Cup in 2006 has since re-launched his career with Accra Hearts of Oak SC.
The skillful midfielder told the organizers, Primeval Consult, that coach Attuquayefio has contributed so much to Ghana football and he would be willing to support the initiative to help the ailing coach.
Also in the team would be Bernard Don Bortey, the 2002/3 joint Premier League top scorer with Charles Taylor also given his commitment to the match.
Don Bortey who now plays for Premier League side Aduana Stars is expected to light up the stadium with his skills and accurate set pieces that would definitely be the toast of fans on Friday night's event.
Both players would be featuring for the 'Friends of Jones Attuquayefio' with the likes of Stephen Appiah, Amankwah Mireku, Sammy Adjei, Emmanuel Osei Kuffour and other members of the famous Hearts “64 Battalion” which conquered the continent in 2000 and 2001.
The Blacks Stars would be led by captain John Mensah, with support from Daniel Opare, John Boye, Isaac Vorsah and Rabiu Mohammed among others.
The event is being put together by Primeval Consult with backing from the Ghana Football Association (GFA).
According to the organizers, the North and South Stands would go for GH?3.00, with the Osu Stand attracting a flat rate of GH?5.00, whilst the VIP Lower and Upper would go for GH?7.00 and GH?10.00 respectively, with the VVIP going for GH?15.00.**
