District Assembly enacts by-law to improve education

Ajumako (C/R), July 21, GNA- The Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam District Assembly has passed a by-law to address the falling standards of education in the district.

Under the law, school children found loitering in the streets after 2000 hours will be fined 10,000 cedis.

The law bans children from attending video shows, concerts or Wake-keeping and seeks to ensure that bands and spinning at funerals ends at 1800 hours.

It warns that parents of children who flout the law and fail to pay the 10,000 cedis fine within 24 hours, would be made to pay a penalty of 500,000 cedis.

The Assembly has empowered all communities in the area to form task forces to ensure strict compliance of the law.
