Ghana defender Kassim Nuhu Adams has explained that he will use the name 'Adams' on his No. 15 jersey at Hoffenheim to honour his father.

The 23-year-old joined the German side on Wednesday and he was quick point out the role his father has played in his life and wants to respect that.

The defender, signed a five-year contract with the German side from the Swiss champions Young Boys on Wednesday, has three names on his official documents.

But he insists he wants to have the name on his father at the back of his jersey even though his grandfather's name is his middle name.

"I will have Adams on my shirt because I grew up with my father and i want to honour his name," Adams said.

The defender, who played for Ghanaian top-flight side Medeama, joined the German outfit for a whopping transfer fee of €8 million.

The German side will pay an additional €2 million depending on the number of appearances the powerful defender makes in his first season with Hoffenheim.

The Ghanaian arrived in Germany on Tuesday to complete formalities before sealing the deal that would see him play in the UEFA Champions League

Nuhu has been forcing his club to allow him to make the move to Germany after their initial reluctance as they see the centre-back as key to their Champions League plans for next season.
