Kaizer Chiefs invite Ghanaians for trials

Kaizer Chiefs have not consigned their search for defenders to the local market and have spread their net wide across the continent in an attempt to find players who could help them establish a fresh foundation to mount a strong challenge for the league championship.

The departure of Burundian born Valery Nahayo to Belgium at the end of the season has resulted in several players, among them Morgan Gould of SuperSport United as well as Mulomowandau Mathoho of Bloemfontein Celtic being linked to the club.

And a www.supersport.com source in Ghana revealed that AshantiGold’s central defensive pair of John Ashong and Henry Entsir will join Kaizer Chiefs for their pre-season training on June 22 with reports from the land of the Black Stars hinting that the pair could have won themselves contracts with Amakhosi.

“The duo impressed the Kaizer Chiefs scouts a fortnight ago when their team AshantiGold defeated newly crowned champions Berekum Chelsea 3-0 in the final league match of the season,” revealed our source.

The dreadlocked Ashong was a member of Ghana’s home-based national team that was defeated by South Africa and failed to go beyond the first round of this year’s CHAN tournament that was staged in Sudan.
