Kaizer Chiefs bid for Awal Mohammed

Kaizer Chiefs have serious intensions ahead of the 2013-14 season and they will now use the remaining few weeks to sign their targeted players.

Goal Ghana has been informed that AmaKhosi are hoping to bring Maritzburg United centre-back Mohamed Awal to Naturena, as they begin their preparations for the new season.

“Baxter has drawn up his wish-list for the new season and like Bobby (Motaung) said earlier last week that we are looking for a centre-back, I think we have found our man,” the source told Goal.

“An offer will be made to Maritzburg United for the services of Mohamed Awal and then we will take it from there,” said our source.

Awal is also wanted by Orlando Pirates who were reportedly told that the Ghanaian international is not for sale.

Nevertheless, AmaKhosi are hoping to come up with a better offer for the defender, as they are looking for a player that can fill the void whenever there is a need.

“We are well aware that Maritzburg have said the player is not for sale, but we all know that almost every in the PSL would love to play for Kaizer Chiefs,” added our source.

Chiefs will have to sacrifice one of their Zimbabwean international should they manage to get Awal, because they already have five foreign players on their books.

Willard Katsande, Kingston Nkhatha, Jimmy Jambo, Lincoln Zvasiya and Matthew Rusike are all from Zimbabwe, and it remains to be seen which player will be allowed to leave as they’re all contracted to the PSL champions.
