KK Sarpong case adjourned to February 15

The case between Kumasi Asante Kotoko and the former CEO of the club, Dr K. K. Sarpong, was last Friday adjourned to February 15, 2016 by a Kumasi Commercial High Court.

This was because the parties were unable to finish the case management stage to set the tone for the trial.

But it was mainly due to the inability of the Kotoko Management to file all its statements to enable the trial judge, Justice Mrs Angelina Homiah, to set the date for the trial.

The two parties had earlier failed to reach an amicable settlement at a pre-trial conference held last year before another High Court and, therefore, decided to go through the normal trial to resolve the issues.

Consequently, the case had been assigned to a different high court but before a different judge.

Dr Sarpong last year dragged the club to court to reclaim his personal money that he claimed to have used to run the club while as the CEO.

Lawyer for the plaintiff, Mr Akrasi Adjabeng, told the Graphic Sports that they had already filed their papers and were waiting to do same.

However, “when we met today, they said they still have statement from their witnesses that they have to file and pleaded for time.

“This, the presiding judge acquiesced to and adjourned the case to February 15 for the parties to agree on the issues that would be addressed during the trial,” Mr Adjabeng said.
