Juventus should sign Appiah – Brescia Director

Brescia director Leonardo Mantovani has invited Juventus to make a move for Ghana midfielder Stephen Appiah.

The midfielder is looking for a way back into football after leaving Turkish side Fenerbahce in 2008 following a long injury battle.

Appiah has had various trials with a number of clubs, but concerns over his knee have stalled any possible transfer.

Mantovani, who discovered Appiah and took him to Udinese in 1997, believes the player is now ready for another adventure in Italy, and he has tipped him to join Juve.

"Appiah is a good player. I saw him recently and I can affirm that he would easily be ready to return to Juventus," Mantovani told Ilsussidiario.net.

"He is a world class player and does things naturally and in ways that only champions are capable of."

Speculation in the Italian media has suggested Appiah could be Mohamed Sissoko's understudy, and Mantovani agrees.

"I have seen him, and he can surely play at the highest levels again. He will be training with Brescia's youth team for now, and it's a pleasure to have him close to the club," concluded the director.
