Junior Black Sticks demolish Libya 17-0

Ghana's male junior hockey team, the Black Sticks, scored their highest goal in international hockey after humiliating hapless Libya 17-0 on Saturday at the July 11-19 African under-21 Hockey Championship in Cairo, Egypt.

Defender Daniel Ababio who scored all his goals from penalty corners banged in five, the same as Nicholas Hanson as Richard Adjei, Emmanuel Morrison, scored goals apiece.

Stocky striker Lesley Barnor, Shadrack Baah, and Gideon Abbey all scored one each as Ghana joined Egypt and South Africa at the top on six points. The impressive Ghanaians who had also beaten tough customers Kenya 3-2 in their opening game on Friday were ruthless as they equaled South African's score line against the same side on Friday.

Only two teams qualifies for the junior World Cup to be co-hosted by Malaysia and Singapore next year.
