Former International Boxing Federation, (IBF), Welterweight Champion, Joshua Clottey has outlined his major program when he finally retires from the sport.

The 38 year – old who is gradually halting the peak of a very successfully career in boxing, has highlighted the need to support upcoming boxers in their programs to build the professional aspect of their careers in order to generate more future champions for Ghana.

In an interview with sportscrusader.com, Clottey said; “It is difficult for young boxers who fight on the local scene to win titles and be recognized, so I will take the initiative of moving them out of Ghana to the United States to give them that needed exposure to build on their career and to become world champions.

He further emphasized that boxers on the local scene find it difficult with their diet and accommodation issues which does not facilitate their development as individuals and this goes a long way to hinder the development of world champions for Ghana

Clottey added that he is in talks with his promoters (Star Boxing) to support this initiative when the time is due and is convinced that they would come on board in support of this initiative.
