Jonathan Mensah owes career to coach Duncan

Ghana defender Jonathan Mensah has credited former Hearts of Oak coach David Duncan for his career growth.

Mensah first worked with Duncan at Ghana Premier League side AshantiGold where he was handed playing time in the top-flight.

Duncan then moved on to South African Premier Soccer League side Free State Stars and signed the young centre-back.

Mensah went on to win the 2009 FIFA U20 World Cup finals in Egypt with Ghana’s Black Satellites.

He also played at the 2010 FIFA World Cup finals in South Africa when Ghana reached the quarter-final.

Asked who has been the biggest influence on your career so far, Mensah said: “My first coach at Ashanti Gold and Free State Stars coach Duncan. I think I owe my career to him for the faith he showed me from a very young age.”
