Ex-Ghana defender John Pantsil has ruled out a return to the domestic scene.

The 34-year-old is currently unattached after leaving South African side Maritzburg United.

The former Leicester City, West Ham and Fulham right-back has backtracked after revealing his desire to return to the Ghana Premier League.

The veteran, who has started a coaching course in South Africa has ruled out a return to his native country.

“When I came to Ghana at the end of last year, I granted interviews saying that I will be coming down to play for a local team before I hang my boots,” he told Joy Sports.

“But I am going to disappoint a few people or my fans because I am not going to do that anymore.”

“For me, I like to learn from experience. I started here and wanted to end here.

“Some of my colleagues came down to play for local but they weren’t treated well so I don’t want to get myself into this position.

“We have served the nation, we have done well so we need to keep that respect and continue where we have to continue to become somebody in future for the nation.

“My senior colleagues who came to end their career in Ghana are not happy."
