John Mensah Jumps To Milo's Defence

OLYMPIQUE Lyon and Black Stars deputy skipper, John Mensah has stated that though there is a clarion call for the senior players to feature in all friendly internationals lined up for Ghana to get the needed cohesion for the rest of the World/Nations Cup qualifiers, he believes it would be inappropriate to do so. Speaking on the possibility of a chunk of the regular Stars players missing the game against Tunisia on November 19th, the Lyon stalwart stated that the policy adopted by Milovan Rajevac should rather be supported by all since that is but the only means by which suitable replacements could be found for some of the ageing and injured stars.

"Not all players can combine playing matches for both club and country under one season as unforeseen injuries which are part of the game could force some of the players out,” he continued. “It has never been the intention of any of my colleagues to intentionally stay out of games, but we all admit that there are times that we have no option than to stay out because of injury related problems or fatigue. Then again there is the need to groom some of these young ones that have been identified by the coach because that is exactly the same way some of us came through the ranks,” he added.
