Jerry Akamingko’s Form…

…the answer to Ghana’s defensive dilemna.

Turkish based Ghanaian defender Jerry Akaminko looks to have hit form at the right time for the national team with just two months to the African Cup of Nations.

The Ghanaian has been ever present in his club Eskisehirspor’s back four all season and has featured in both right back and central defence for the club in the Turkish Super league.

The former Kpando Hearts of Lions man has become the rock of Eskisehirspor’s defence and has helped them to a fourth place, just four point behind leaders Galatasaray after a shaky start to the season which saw them loose two consercutive games in the Turkish Super League and and got kicked out of a place in the Europa League Group stages by Olympique Marseille.

Eskisehirspor’s manager Ersun Yanal Seems to have finally found the defensive shield needed to win games and at the heart of that defence is the Ghanaian. Jerry Akaminko currrent form is a good news for Kwesi Appiah who would look to land the Nations Cup trophy in South Africa come January 2013.

With both John Mensah and Paintsil aging and gradually loosing the form that made them intergral part of the National team, the versatile defender would surely have a place in the team as he meets the requirement set out by the current technical team of Blackstars.

Jerry Akaminko can be used as a Central defender or a right full back.
