Jerome Opoku, the stalwart Ghanaian defender, has expressed his elation at aiding Istanbul Basaksehir in clinching a spot in European competition for the forthcoming season.
With the Turkish season nearing its conclusion and just two matches left, Istanbul Basaksehir is poised to compete in either the Europa League or the Europa Conference League, contingent on their final standing.
Presently positioned fourth in the league, they trail third-place Trabzonspor by three points.
Opoku, who transferred to the Turkish team from Portugal's Arouca, has achieved consecutive qualifications for European tournaments.
"We've achieved it! Europe's calling. Immensely proud of my squad. For two successive years, I've been part of this incredible journey to Europe! The fruits of labor are evident! Two more decisive games to go. Onward, Istanbul Basaksehir," he shared on X, previously known as Twitter.
Istanbul Basaksehir affirmed their European slot following a narrow 1-0 triumph against Sivasspor last Sunday.
"Our squad's legacy of competing in European Cups endures. Depending on the outcomes of our forthcoming fixtures, we will partake in either the UEFA Europa or Conference League," the club announced post-match.
Throughout the current season, Opoku has been a key player, making 26 appearances, netting four goals, and providing an assist.
