Jantuah Gets Shot At Commonwealth Title

Accra, (Greater Accra) 17 Oct.,

The pride of Asante, Kofi Jantuah, former national welterweight champion, will clash with Steffan Scriggins of Australia for the vacant commonwealth welterweight title on November one, at the Accra Sports Stadium. The fight, being promoted by Metropolitan Entertainment Television (Metro TV), is dubbed the "Metro sports pound for pound triple do". On the same bill are two other title bouts -- the once postponed African Featherweight title fight between Sia Agustin, the Ivorian champion and James Armah (Bukom Fire) of Ghana, and the meeting of Steve Dotse of Ghana and Bamba Amara of Nigeria for the vacant African Bantamweight title. Mr. Viktor Offori, General Manager of Metro TV told a press conference in Accra today that Scriggins, who has an amateur record of 364 fights with nine losses and a professional record of 13 straight wins, is due to fly in next week. Mr. Offori said three supporting bouts have also been lined-up for the night. Ghana's Joshua Clottey and Ike Obi (Nigeria) will meet in a 10- round International welterweight contest, Ablor Sowah, "Jaah man" will battle it out with Roland Igbafe (Nigerian) in the African superbantamweight division while Emmanuel Clottey and Ivorian Kimou Kouassi will engage in a 10-round International lightweight contest.
