Jabir: I'm not yet Kotoko's technical director

Ghana under-23 coach Malik Jabir has rejected reports of his appointment as technical director of Asante Kotoko but admits talks are underway over the possibility.

The Porcupine Warriors have endured a disappointing time in the second round of the ongoing Ghana Premier League, provoking reports of the appointment of a technical director to assist coach Michael Osei.

News on Jabir's appointment gained grounds after he was recently spotted at the club's training grounds.

"The whole of last week, I was at Wa when the acting general manager [Opoku Nti] called to make a proposal on coming to assist coach Michael Osei as a technical director," Jabir told Fox FM.

"I requested for five days to take a look at the scene before I can [make a decision].

"Luckily, the team were travelling to Bekwai to play New Edubiase, so I joined him to attend the match as a spectator just to observe certain things.

"I even visited the training grounds the next day. I went there not as a technical director but as part of my observations. I talked to the players that day upon the coach's request.

"I wonder how come it's all over the place I have been appointed technical director of the club."

Jabir, however, says discussions are still ongoing on the subject.

He added: "I will have to meet them to give them my response since they approached me to make the proposal.

"I have not been appointed as the technical director of Asante Kotoko."

Kotoko currently sits fifth on the league log after matchday 22.
