Finder Sports can confirm that talks are underway for the second leg of the John Agyekum Kufour (JAK) anniversary game between Kumasi Asante Kotoko and AshantiGold.

The JAK Cup is an exhibition game played in honour of ex-President John Agyekum Kuffour 80th anniversary as well as to raise money for his Kufuor foundation.

The first game lived up to the hype but ended with a lot of controversies.

The organizers of the game came under heavy criticism for their failure to declare a winner via the penalty shoot-out despite the game travelling into extra-time.

According to our checks there were lots of last-minute decision making by the organizers during the course of the game.

A member of Primeval Media, organizers of the game told the paper that both clubs are still interested in the second leg with discussions already underway.

The delay in finding a date for the second leg is as a result of Asante Kotoko’s participation in the CAF Confederation Cup.

Meanwhile, the first game ended 1-1 with both side playing 120 minutes of action. The game was ended after extra-time which created a lot of tension among club officials and supporters from both sides.

As expected, the AshGold coach, was furious at the organizers for calling off the game after extra time and said, “What is happening now is bad, after extra time no penalties, AshantiGold will not play the next match. This is not fair. I will suggest to my boss that we don’t come. I don’t understand why we didn’t finish the game. The game has been postponed for three times now and now we play, look at this joke.

Head coach of Asante Kotoko, Charles Kwabena Akunnor also indicated after the game in his post-match conference that he isn’t certain of a return of leg.
