Isaac Coffie thanks Sporting Gijon fans despite failure to reach target

Ghanaian midfielder Isaac Coffie has expressed gratitude to fans of Sporting Gijon despite failing to reach their target of gaining promotion to the Spanish La Liga.

The former Ghana youth player, who joined the Segunda division outfit on a free transfer last summer from Genoa has been a key member of the team even though he struggled to settle at the beginning.

Coffie made 15 appearances as Gijon finished 9th on the table.

However, the 27-year old has thanked fans of the club insisting they will return back next season a stronger side.

"This season has come to an end with lots of ups and downs and yea we disappointed we couldn’t reach our objective,' he ;posted on Twitter.

"But we are grateful and appreciative of the support of our dear fans throughout the season. Now we go on holidays and come back more energized for what is ahead of us!," he added.

Coffie, who has one cap for the Black Stars of Ghana joined the Spanish side on a two year deal after almost a decade in Italy.
