Asante Kotoko goalkeeper Isaac Amoako has been operated on, to correct an arterial cruciate ligament tear.

The club confirmed he underwent an arthroscopic knee surgery at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra.

It is estimated that the surgery will cost around US$7,000.

An arthroscopic surgery is a minimally invasive surgical procedure on a joint in which an examination and normal treatment of the damage is performed using an arthroscope, an endoscope that is inserted into the joint through a small incision.

The surgery will essentially relief the goalie of any pain with the likelihood of him returning to full fitness after months.

Amoako, the only Kotoko player to have spent nine continuous seasons at the club, suffered the injury after landing awkwardly at training.

MRI examination revealed the degree of the injury, and analysis by the medical team established that he needed surgery.
