Introductory coaching course ends on April 15

Accra, April 12, GNA - An introductory coaching course organized by the National Sports Council would end on Friday, April 15 at the Azumah Nelson Sports Complex, Kaneshie.

The course, the first of its kind which started from April 11, is being organized by the Greater Accra Regional Sports Council and is aimed at preparing technical personnel in preparation for the 2011 National Sports Festival.

A statement signed by Saka Acquaye, Regional Director of the NSC copied to GNA Sports said the participants are being taken through periodisation, attacking and defensive systems, ball handling, ball possession, officiating, sports pedagogy, injury in sports and sports medicine in disciplines such as soccer, handball, basketball, volleyball and weightlifting. Experts trained from the University of Leipzig in Germany and University of Budapest in Hungary are taking the participants through the course.

Over seventy (70) participants from the Ghana Education Service, the Security Services, Universities, National Sports Council and the Districts are taking part in the five-day course. NSC Chief Executive, Worlanyo Agra will officially close the course on Friday at 13h00 GMT. Participants who would excel at the course will undergo further training before the All Africa Games in Maputo, Mozambique in September and the London 2012 Olympic Games.
