Opoku Agyemang during his days at Qatari side Al Sadd

Ghana striker Opoku Agyemang speaks on his expectations after moving to Europe for the first time by siging for Bulgarian side Levski Sofia.

The 23-year-old spent a total of five years playing for Tunisian outfit CS Sfaxien and Al Sadd Football Club of Qatar.

Agyemang, in an interview with the Captivating Ghana Sports Newspaper, discusses his national team career future and reveals his frustrations during his long spell in the treatment room.

El-apache, welcome to The Interview. How are you coping with your new environment in Bulgaria?

It has been great and fantastic. I’m loving every bit of it here.

How has the pre-season gone for you so far?

The pre-season has been very fine and good. I like how things are going here and I believe we will have a great season.

Levski Sofia lost the league crown to Ludogorets last season. Levski have won the title 26 times. Are you hoping to help them reclaim the title?

Yeah sure. I believe we can win the league title and that is one of our priorities in the coming season. I believe strongly that we can win.

You are a player with great strength and physique. Is that going to be your main asset for the season or you are going to run out at defenders, create opportunities for the strikers and score as well?

Yes. That has always been my best assets and I will use it to the fullest in the coming season.

You have been away from the national team for some time now because of the injury. Are you aiming to use Levski this season as a platform to come back to the national team?

My main aim now is to come back on form. The national team is there forever so if I am back in form and the coach likes my performance, I will come back into the national team. But now my main aim is to train hard and come back in form again.

How would describe the period in which you sat out of the game because of the injury at Al-Sadd. Was it frustrating or you had the patience?

It was not easy at all but there is nothing I can do so I just concentrate on my rehab.

Before you had the injury a lot of French clubs made offers to sign you but Al-Sadd didn’t allow them, were you worried by this?

Yeah. I was very worried because it was a good club but as the negotiation was going, I sustained the injury. Too bad.

You were a member of the 2009 U20 World Cup squad. Have you been shocked by news of the death of Jordan Anagbla?

Yes I was very shocked when I heard that he has died. He was a great man but how do we do it. It is life.
