Interference, imposition: Real reasons Laryea Kingston quit - Saddick Adams explains

Immediate past Black Starlets coach, Laryea Kingston, resigned for deep-seated reasons that were stonewalling his bid to change the narrative in Ghana football circles.

This is according to sports journalist Saddick Adams.

He explained in a YouTube video why and how Laryea's exit after his team crashed out of the WAFU U-17 tournament has caused a stir in footballing circles.

Adams, known as Sports Obama, said the former Black Stars midfielder was the subject of interference in his core duty as a manager of a national side.

He said confidential sources said Laryea was getting fed up with matters of interference and imposition, which defeated Kingston's long-held resolve to stand out as a manager.

"Many people I have spoken to on the Laryea Kingston issue said he was angry about several issues.

According to him, a former FA executive told Laryea not to address the press in the immediate aftermath of the game but he was adamant.

"People have information that in Russia, Laryea was scolded by some FA officials that his performance was bad, something he did not understand because of his team's performance, that really got him angry.

"Aside from the Russia issue, he was alleged to have been handed an entirely new U-17 team to use after Russia, which move he flatly rejected stating that he wanted to build a team by himself," Saddick added.

On the subject of imposition of players, Saddick explained how Laryea tried to challenge top FA officials in terms of player selection, which move again made him enemies and forced him to quit.

"Then again, there is talk that Laryea is not opposed to people introducing players for selection, but his style is to get information on the player and to personally monitor them on their own merit.

"He does not want players being brought into camp, but those things were going on not once or twice; so he concluded that those scolding him, despite his results on the pitch, were doing so because he had resisted their imposition," he stressed.

He also weighed in on the content and tone of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) statement that accepted Laryea's resignation with a heavy dose of critique.
