Inter ace Kwadwo Asamoah excited by "important victory" over Rapid Vienna in Europa League

Inter Milan star Kwadwo Asamoah has expressed delight in his side's "important victory" away in Austria against Rapid Vienna in the first leg of the Europa League round of 32.

The Ghana international impressed as Inter snatch a vital 1-0 away win to take control of the tie ahead of the second leg clash in Italy next week.

Lautaro Martinez's first-half penalty secured a narrow first-leg win for Inter Milan at the Allianz Stadion in the Europa League.

The home side's biggest threat came after substitute Christoph Knasmullner saw his effort saved by goalkeeper Samir Handanovic.

Inter were without Mauro Icardi, who refused to travel and was stripped of the captaincy amid a contract dispute.

Goalkeeper Handanovic was handed the captain's armband in Icardi's absence and the 34-year-old responded by keeping a clean sheet as Inter comfortably held on for the victory.
