Inkoom edges closer to Ukraine move

Ukrainian club Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk are set to complete the signing of Ghana international right-back Samuel Inkoom this week with a US$10m offer.

Negotiations for the signature will enter the final stretch by midweek if his club Basel accept the offer tabled by the rich club.

The Ukrainian First Division club are currently enjoying a period of financial prosperity, and the club has revealed the Ghanaian right-back as their first hopeful acquisition.

Basel Vice-President Bernhard Heusler has confirmed that talks are underway for Inkoom to make the move just after two years at the Swiss side.

“The interest is very concrete, and we will need to take it really seriously” Heusler said.

Despite reservations about his move to Ukraine, the twenty-one year old energetic defender Inkoom has responded to the move insisting: “If it fits, we need to talk”.

Inkoom, 21, has previously garnered the interest of Spanish giants Barcelona, and so his possible switch to Dnipro would be seen as a massive coup for the club.

He played for Ghana at the World Cup and his stock has risen since then.

Arguably the clubs first shock acquisition came with their manager, former Tottenham and Real Madrid boss Juande Ramos, when he agreed to a four-year contract with the club last October.
