SENIOR OFFICIALS MEETING OF THE INAUGURAL SESSION OF
GHANA-MALTA PERMANENT JOINT COMMISSION
FOR COOPERATION (PJCC)
The Ministry for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Malta has hosted the Technical Meeting of the Inaugural Session of the Ghana-Malta Permanent Joint Commission for Cooperation (PJCC).
The meeting was held within the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on General Cooperation establishing the PJCC, which was signed between the two countries on the September 26, 2014 at the margins of the 69th Session of the United Nations General Assembly.
Speaking at the meeting, His Excellency Kenneth Enos Kofi Tachie, Ghana’s High Commissioner to Malta with concurrent accreditation to Libya who led Ghana’s delegation, side underscored the importance of having more frequent exchanges between both countries at the political and economic levels as well as by the private sector, with a view to identify opportunities aimed at enhancing cooperation and collaboration between the two countries.
Dr. Helga Mizzi, Director-General of Malta Foreign Affairs who led the Maltese delegation said, “Malta appreciates the existing level of cooperation between the two countries” and expressed the hope that the Joint Commission would be a forerunner for a better time ahead.
In a communiqué issued at the end of the meeting, the two sides agreed on several proposals that would contribute to enhancing and developing bilateral relations and increasing exchanges, experiences and cooperation between the two countries in the fields of culture and tourism, education, migration and police cooperation in border control, adoptions and investment cooperation.
The Ghana side included Messrs Mcarious Akanbeanab Akanbong and Mr. Senalor K. Yawlui of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Accra and Mr. S. Jojo Effah-Broni, Head of Chancery Ghana High Commission, Malta.
A high-powered delegation from relevant agencies of State of the Republic of Malta notably, Ministry for Tourism, the Ministry for Education and Employment, Ministry for Home Affairs and National Security, Inland Revenue Department and the Ministry for the Family and Social Solidarity participated in the Inaugural Session of Ghana-Malta Permanent Joint Commission for Cooperation (PJCC).
