Forward Inaki Williams says he prefers to play for Spain than to feature for Ghana at international level.

The 24-year-old is very much eligible to play for the Black Stars despite featuring for Spain albeit in a non-competitive match.

Known for being the fastest player in La Liga with Athletic Bilbao, many have clamoured for his call-up to the Ghana national team.

Ghana FA officials and coaches have made moves to have the youngster pledge his international future with the Black Stars with no success.

Williams who was born to Ghanaian parents has now given the clearest indication of his choice to commit fully to Spain.

“My parents have met with the Ghana coaching staff and I have received calls, I don’t forget where my family came from,” he said.

“But on a sporting level, it would be better to play for Spain. And I have to be grateful to the place that has given me everything.”

The GFA in the recent past has embarked on a policy to rope in players of Ghanaian descent who have sprung into prominence.

Players such as Adam Kwarasey, Quincy Owusu Abyeie and Kevin-Prince Boateng have all been taken through such processes to enable them play for Ghana.
