In football, the name B/A is a chronic curse

*Football in Sunyani back to it’s root was the best and fantastic, then were
the days Sunyani produced national attackers among them the likes of Adansi
Fofie, Kwasi Wusu, Dan Owusu and the rest. *

*In terms of club performance, the city had B/A United and Tano Bofoakwa who
were the emerging force in the Ghanaian league. Today, the two teams are now
swimming in the Division One League. *

B/A United which was named after the region – Brong Ahafo United have become
an ordinary side since because the club is facing the crises of not having a
life patron as a traditional club, the spirit behind the team is gone.

All these happened because of the selfish interest of some of their leaders
who because of their own personal gains overthrew the then CEO of the club
Kofi Zico, insulted the life patron and snatched the team from him. The club
have been in all kind of curses lacking spiritual backing which is the back
bone of all traditional clubs. Look at the traditional clubs like Aduana,
Kotoko and Okwawu how their problems are addressed and solved quickly when
they encounter any problem.

The curse to B/A as a club is so huge that it has been proven that woe
betide anyone who name their club after B/A. Current Glo Ghana Premiership
side B/A Stars are obviously already relegated from the top flight league
because they failed to realize that the name B/A is a curse and the founder
of the club should have apologized for all the bad things the name did
before naming their club to it.

The name B/A is noted for the bad things in football and with that no team
without the forgiveness of Sunyani Traditional Council, there would be no
premier club surviving in Sunyani. How can a supporter attack a whole
Omanhene because of football team? To quote the Graphic Sports edition of
that year, “Sunyani manhene stripped of his title as life patron of B/A
United,” as the authoritative sports paper captioned it.
sadly, the curse is not affecting only the name B/A but it is also affecting
the Sunyani Coronation Park, proven by the fact that any club which dare use
that pitch for home venue in recent years have either been relegated or
faced a dogfight to escape relegation, current league leaders Chelsea as
well as King Faisal faced this dilemma too.

The “cursed home” has indeed affected Tano Bofoakwa as well and they are
struggling together with B/A United. Sunyani Coronation Park and the name
B/A owe a thorough cleansing by the Sunyani Traditional Council. They need
to pacify the gods and also do same to other BrongAhafo clubs they have
offended, the likes of Kintampo United and Nsoatreman FC.

B/A Stars have now been relegate and nothing could save them but in order
for Sunyani, the capital to have a future Ghana Premier League team which
will last long in the top flight, that’s the solution above, they should
comply, they should pacify the gods in the region through the help of the
former life patron to whom the team should also be given back again.
