Impressive George Owu wins Tottenham hearts

Former national team goalkeeper George Owu has impressed on trials at English Premiership side Tottenham Hotspurs and is relishing the opportunity to sign for the London club. According to reports, Tottenham’s goalkeeper trainers have been overwhelmed by the ability of the Ghanaian goaltender and are poised to agree a deal by the weekend. In fact, Hurelmo Gomez, the Brazilian goalkeeper of Spurs has been so impressed he couldn’t believe a goalkeeper of Owu’s calibre is not playing for a top European side.

Free agent Owu whose contract at Egyptian side Al-Masry has just run out may have been surprised when he received the call from Tottenham but it is one that he is also keen to grab. The former Black Stars goalie says a move to Spurs and the English Premiership will be a dream come true and his displays at White Heart Lane over the past week couldn’t be any better. The goalkeeper is determined to prove his mettle and has tremendously upped his performance on trials, but is in no rush.

Owu is convinced he has done enough to seal a deal with Spurs but as he awaits the club’s decision at the end of the trial this weekend. He is however philosophical on the bid to stay and play in England. “I am doing well and I believe the Tottenham trainers like me too but everything is in the hands of God. We have to give the final decision to God and if it is the wish of God that I remain with Tottenham, then it will definitely come to pass,” Owu said by phone from London.
