I will play for Jones Attuquayefio - Agyemang Badu

Emmanuel Agyemang Badu, Ghana Black Stars workaholic midfielder has declared his intention to support the ‘Sir’ Cecil Jones Attuquayefio Charity Match on Friday, June 29 at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The midfielder who confirmed his participation in the match to the organizers said, “I will love to play for Jones because he was a great player and a coach.

“He has also contributed so much to the development of football in Ghana by unearthing a lot of talents,” Badu told the organizers.

Agyemang Badu who plies his trade with Italian Serie A side Udinese, said though he is holidaying in Berekum in the Brong Ahafo Region, he has altered his plans because of his desire to participate in the charity match.

“I will be in Accra on Thursday evening just because of this particular match. I will join my colleagues in the Blacks Stars to play against the famous “64 Battalion” on Friday just to raise funds for the renowned coach and the Ear, Nose and Throat Unit of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital”, he noted.

Agyemang Badu therefore appealed to all his colleagues to join the campaign to make the day a memorable one.

“This is not just a fundraising, but a match to honour the coach for his exploits as a player and coach. It is just unfortunate that he is seriously ill and cannot be in active coaching anymore”.

“We will be there in our numbers to support him,” he stated.

The match will feature Friends of Jones Attuquayefio XI against the Black Stars.**
