I will be happy if I make the WC squad - Inkoom

Defender Samuel Inkoom says he will remain a‘happy’ man even if he fails to make the Ghana squad for the 2014 World Cup.

The 24-year-old is widely expected to be named in the provisional 30-man squad for June’s finals in Brazil.

Inkoom has profited immensely from a loan spell at Greek club FC Platanias following a turbulent time at his substantive club FC Dnipro.

The ex-FC Basel man managed to make 15 league appareances for Platanias in the Greek top flight to effectively enhance his chances of making the Black Stars squad for the World Cup in Brazil.

But the right back says he will not be disappointed if he doesn’t make coach Kwesi Appiah’s squad that will be named on Monday, even though he is hoping for the opposite.

“If I make the squad I will be happy and if I don’t make it also I will be happy,” he told GHANAsoccernet.com.

“There are a lot of good players who can also go to the World Cup.

“We have experienced players and a good leader in Asamoah Gyan and also very good young players.”

Inkoom has been linked to a move to several European clubs following his impressive displays during his loan stint for Platanias.

He will be making his second straight appearance at the World Cup if he manages to make Ghana’s squad for the tournament in June.
