‘I was stunned by Schlupp’s inclusion’

Ghana FA Executive Committee member Moses Armah admits he needed some convincing after being stunned by the inclusion of Jeffry Schlupp in the provisional Black Stars squad for the 2014 World Cup.

The Leicester City star was one of the surprise inclusions in the provisional 26-man squad named by coach Kwesi Appiah on Monday.

Schlupp alongside David Accam and Afriyie Acquah were big beneficiaries as a reward for their impressive form for their respective clubs.

Moses Armah who also doubles as a member of the Black Stars management committee however reveals he had to be won over by the coach over the selection of Schlupp who had played just once for the Black Stars.

“I think these are the best players we have for now,” Armah told GHANAsoccernet.com.

“I was surprised about Jeffry [Schlupp], I have never seen him before but when he [the coach] showed me the clip of him, he is fantastic.

“And I think he is one of the best players for our No.3 position.”

Kwesi Appiah will prune his team to the required 23 for the World Cup after the international friendly against the Netherlands on May 31 in Rotterdam.
