I want to see trophies and medals - McDan charges Ghana Tennis Federation

The Chief Executive Officer of McDan Group of Companies, Dr. Daniel Mckorley, has charged the Ghana Tennis Federation (GTF) to win trophies and medals for the country else he would stop donating to the federation.

According to Dr. Mckorley, it's the dream of McDan Group of Companies to see Ghana tennis and its player’s exceling at international competitions and producing World class tennis stars who will win laurels at ITF tournaments.

“My message to the GTF is that, time to be donating to them is getting over, I want to see trophies, I want to see medals, I want to see them go out there to win trophies for the country,” Dr. McKorley said.

He continued that, “for the past five years, McDan has been able to elevate the game, it's about time that we stretch to the world to be having ITF ranked players and it's long overdue, if GTF is not getting up to go out there to claim titles then I will have a problem with GTF.”

Speaking to the Ghana Tennis Federation shortly after presenting a cheque of $17,378 to pay a three years debt owed the International Tennis Federation (ITF) as affiliation fees, the renowned philanthropist said, “We have talents in this country, it depends on how we harness it. I have passion for tennis because it’s a game of love and it’s a game that takes a lot of the kids off the streets.”
McDan Group of Companies came to the rescue of GTF when it struggled to raise funds to pay a $15,000 debt owed ITF from 2011 to 2013.

The President of the GTF, Isaac Aboagye Duah, expressed gratitude to Mr McKorley and assured that his outfit had introduced a membership card which will be used to pay affiliation fees in the future.

"The membership card is GHC 5 for junior players per card and GHC 20 for social players but for socials we have gold, silver and platinum and you can pay up to GHC 500 and there are benefits you can derive from it including discounts at certain shops on tennis equipment and apparels at certain stores across the country".

Ghana’s Golden Rackets team is expected to participate in this year’s Davis Cup competition in Nairobi, Kenya from June 18.
