Goalkeeper Goalkeeper

Goalkeeper’s trainer of the senior national team, the Black Stars, Richard Kingson says his goal is to build a strong goalkeepers department.

Richard Kingson was appointed goalkeepers trainer after a massive reshuffling at the technical department of the Black Stars.

He replaced Nassamu Ibrahim who was former goalkeeper’s trainer of the Black Stars.

The 38 year old was a member of the senior national team from 1996 to 2012 when he retired.

He was the country’s number one goalie at the FIFA world Cup in Germany, 2006 and South Africa 2010.

The former Olympics goalkeeper is heavily reliant of local goalkeepers, with Adam Larsen Kwarasey absent and Fatau Dauda and Razak Braimah all out. Richard Kingson is left with Richard Ofori of Wa All Stars, Felix Annan of Kotoko and Joseph Addo of Aduana Stars.

“I want to build a very strong Goalkeeping department for the Black Stars,”he told Kessben TV.

“As a coach I am here to help the young ones to develop and the experienced ones to get their normal time.”

“My current goalies in the team are doing well and am happy with their working ethics in training, but i know who to pick.I can close my eyes to Choose my No.1 goalie against Ethiopia.”

“I will urge all the players to support who ever start the game on Sunday for the nation and wait for their time their opportunity.”

The Black Stars will host Ethiopia on Sunday in the opening Africa Cup of nations qualifier for Cameroon 2019.
