I want to be like my father – Azumah's son

Azumah Nelson Junior, son of boxing legend Azumah Nelson says he wants to follow the footsteps of his father.

Nelson Jr. who is in his third year at the University has been touted as the next ‘big thing’ in boxing due to his fistic skills.

And with all the accolade won by his father, the 18-year-old hard puncher who is yet to turn pro in an interview with Ghanacrusader.com said he wants to walk in his dad’s shadows.

“I’m in the amateur ranks because i’m in school, so when i’m done with school i will know when to turn pro.

“My dad was a very great boxer so I'm aspiring to be like him. I will be grateful if I'm able to achieve half of what he did.”

When asked whether he has the same style comparing to his dad, he concluded:

“Everybody is different you can’t really have the same style because as I'm coming up I'm picking different things, you learn from different places but is mainly my dad because he is my mentor.

Nelson Jr. bursted onto the boxing scene in 2015 when he won the Homowo Boxing championship held at the Mantse Agbona in Accra.
