Antoine Semenyo could not resist a playful jab at Piero Hincapie after delivering a standout performance in Manchester City’s 2-0 victory over Arsenal in the Carabao Cup final at Wembley on Sunday, March 22, 2026.
Operating from the right flank, Semenyo was a constant menace, stretching Arsenal’s backline and repeatedly taking on Hincapie from the first whistle.
The defender struggled to cope with his direct running and was booked as early as the 16th minute, a moment that shifted the dynamic of their battle.
Clearly cautious after the yellow card, Hincapie began to back off, allowing Semenyo even more freedom to attack.

The pressure finally took its toll, and Hincapie was substituted in the 65th minute following a challenging performance.
Speaking after the match, Semenyo did not shy away from highlighting his dominance.
“I just have that freedom to do what I want on the wing, get at defenders and cause problems. I had Hincapie running around a little bit, that’s just what I do. As soon as he got booked, he was backing off a lot,” he said.
The Ghanaian winger, who played the full match, was instrumental in City’s strong second-half display as Nico O’Reilly’s brace sealed the club’s ninth League Cup title.
Reflecting on his journey, Semenyo described his start at City as a “fairytale” and hinted at bigger ambitions.
“First trophy of many, I hope. God’s got a plan. I’m excited, I’m happy. And many more to come,” he added.
