I'm still young and vibrant - Alex Asamoah

Aduana Stars striker Alex Asamoah has scoffed at suggestions that he is a veteran player.

He told footy-ghana.com that despite the number of years he has spent playing in the Premier League, he still has what it takes to win a foreign contract and play for the Black Stars.

He said: "I'm a very young and talented player. It is just that I was famous from a very tender age, even becoming the expensive player in the country at a point in time.

“People have the notion that when you play football for a number of seasons you become an old player and they start calling you names. I still have the belief that I can make it to the top, secure a foreign contract and eventually play for the national team again.”

Asamoah, who won the 2008/2009 goal king title with Asante Kotoko, also told footy-ghana.com that a top four finish remains a target for Aduana Stars, acknowledging that bad results in the second round had almost ruled out a title challenge.

"The league is almost out of reach due to some poor results in the second round, but we will still fight till the end. I can assure our supporters that a top four finish will be their reward," he added.
